For Love of a Book

Beneath the garden wall

I found you as I was reading,

Feeling small, feeling alone.

But the written word came to life and

When you triumphed

Or when you loved

My heart was lifted.

You led me willing to your secret land

And I will never be the same

As before I entered these pages.

Let this story never end, please?

Let it go on and on,

And may you always remain.

Who I was has washed away

My heart has dashed upon your shore

O book, you’ve claimed me

I’m not the one I was before.
